about

This may be the only fully complete song I've written, top to bottom, and completed a recording with. I think that's owed to the fact that I had a great band at the time that I wrote it for - Pleiades. I had a target & a destination!! Mike Fuchs, John Gilbert & Bob Piper did an incredible job of bringing it to life! Marcangelo Perricelli isn't on this early demo version (I think we did this in '96 or '97), but he is on the album version of this song by the same name.

I'm kinda proud of how it sounds because I feel it honestly represents me and my sci-fi-fi and dreamy leanings. It's about a few different dreams I had when I was really into lucid dreaming, keeping a dream journal, etc. The main dream is one in which a liquid-metal sphere, kinda like a nicer version than the one in Phantasm, was moving around in a house, floating and flying through doorways and halls, and would occasionally impact you in the chest and you'd feel this huge burst of energy and consciousness.

Another dream this is based on is a crazy one in which Bob & I were spared execution in a prison in exchange for playing music for the audience. Those that were not as fortunate were transformed into small
purple statues that held the energy of their lives captive. Only recently, when talking with my good friend Alex Sill, did he relay to me the the significance of "stone" as an archetype described by Carl Jung, and it made the dream that much more profound.
